Remembering Martin Onofrej

It is with sadness that we heard of the death of former FEIEA Council member and Slovakian association founder, Martin Onofrej.

Martin was the founder and CEO of AICO from 2012 to 2024. AICO was the only professional association with focus on internal communications (IC) in Slovakia helping organisations to increase their performance and profitability through better change management, collaboration, knowledge sharing, employee engagement and competitiveness.

Martin was a highly regarded IC professional. He brought energy and warmth to all he did and was a passionate advocate of internal communication both for AICO and for FEIEA’s role within Europe. A few of us were guest speakers over the years at AICO IC conferences and award ceremonies in Bratislava and it was clear to see that he was valued by the industry there, bringing standards and best practice to organisations.

It is also fair to say that Martin brought challenge to FEIEA, much of it welcomed and needed, but also fair to add that sometimes this lead to lively debates!

Martin will be very much missed by the FEIEA community and is a sad loss and we send our condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.
