AI report places focus on mindset, not skills for communicators
The 10th edition of #ComunicaImpresa, organised by Italian association Ascai and hosted on 11 October, was a great success. The convention in the fantastic IBM Studios headquarters in Milan was held in front of a large audience of internal communications managers from leading Italian companies.
The central theme was the presentation of the ASCAI 2024 Report focussed on analysing the application of artificial intelligence to internal communication. This area is facing the most important technological paradigm shift in the last decades which has great impact on organisations.
The Report identifies the main practices or tools for companies that already adopt AI, which however only make up 41 percent of the sample, and explores the journey between current and future challenges linked to this phenomenon. Chatbots , speech optimisation, writing for intranets and creating audio files currently emerge as the most used adoptions.
Reasons for lack of adoption lies with the absence of training, which needs to focus on creating the right mindset rather than providing technical skills.
In addition, another key challenge facing internal communication today concerns privacy: a technical, regulatory and ethical concern.
Among the opportunities that AI can offer to improve communication in the company, most responses focused on reducing the workload through the automation of repetitive tasks in daily activity and using AI to analyse large amounts of data , extract insights and improve strategies.
ComunicaImpresa is the annual event organised by ASCAI, the Italian association for internal communications, gathering top communications executives and experts around core themes impacting communications.
